Footsteps of Giants

Soft sculpture; 버선, linen, fiber fill

Thirteen beoseon 버선 (traditional Korean socks) were sewn together to construct the face of a dragon. Beoseon were worn across gender and class, and symbolized prosperity and protection from evil. This work explores Korean-American identity through themes of faceless labor, the blessing of our ancestors, and our legacy of strength.
